 Grosseto Trip

TIC opens today at 3pm - It is just under 2 miles away from the hotel . It opens at 3pm.

I was up early after a long sleep (more than eight hours). I went to breakfast before my shower. I started thinking about my journey to the TIC. It is just under 2 miles away from the hotel. It opens at 3pm. It is at the Centro Sportivo Polivalente Mercurio, Via Mercurio 1, 158100 Grosseto GR.

 A note from Archie: I will arrive in Grosseto in Thursday afternoon May 12th. I will make arrangements for my notices to be on display on the Thursday morning if not before. I`m not guaranteed to be at the Opening Ceremony but will be at both the TIC (late Thursday afternoon) and the Race Walking on the Friday morning. Also, no way compulsory, but I`ll be at the TIC for a `brief meet and greet` meeting at 10.30am on Friday morning. Official team meetings have always been difficult to arrange due to varying arrival and accommodation plans.

I had a walk into the old town in the morning and I bumped into Kevin Dillon on the way. I walked round a large outdoor market just outside of the old town walls. I walked back to the hotel. I bought a baguette at Carrefour. I also bought some lower factor sunscreen for use on the hotel rooftop terrace.

After lunch I had a nap and then ran & jog-walked to the via Mercurio sports centre to register. It was after 4pm when I got there. I registered and had a chat to Fabricio (man at the TIC who wants to learn English). I met Stephen and Wendy Doxey and walked back with them to town. I had some supper in my room and had an early night.

Tue - 28/02/22

  Tuesday 28 June (day 2 in Tampere) I woke up at around 7:30 (again). I made tea and coffee and I pottered about for a while. It is already very hot here again. I am doing things like Wordle & Duolingo in addition to my housekeeping. My back is killing me so I made a point of doing 35 minutes of Yoga (by Chris on demand). NB. I suspect the back pain may be due to me transporting my large suitcase which weighs 20Kg. I had to carry it up and down some steps at stations where the lifts were not working. I had bacon, egg and mushrooms for breakfast and sent a message to Kay. I stayed in the apartment during the morning. The ID cards were not available until late afternoon. I had some ham and cheese with salad for lunch. So, late afternoon I headed for the stadium and collected my Athlete ID card. On the way back I called in at the supermarket, I bought two cans of cider, some Pepsi Max, some bacon, some spring onions, and a big bag of crisps. I had an early night.
